David Hamilton – Director of Operations
David is responsible for the overall leadership of the company, including all flight operations, vendor relationships, dispatch, crewmembers and training. Together with the Chief Pilot and Director of Maintenance, David ensures that all aircraft have appropriate operational equipment and that flight procedures are in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, routes and airports.
David is the primary liaison between Shearwater Air and the FAA. He is responsible for compliance with all applicable FAA regulations, policies, procedures and guidelines; employee training, documentation and licensing; and maintaining Shearwater Air’s Air Carrier Certificate and associated Operations Specifications.
Prior to the certification of Shearwater Air, David was a Department Manager and Lead Captain for Delta AirElite Business Jets and a Captain with E*TRADE Financial. David holds an Airline Transport Rating in multiple turbojet aircraft and has years of experience in Part 135 and Part 121 operations.
David holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Operations from San Jose State University. David is a member of the National Business of Aviation Association, the National Air Transportation Association, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the Northern California Business Aircraft Association.
When David is not flying planes, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and sports.
Will Wolters – Chief Pilot
Will oversees all flight operations and ensures that Shearwater Air flight crews are fully qualified and have the resources needed to maintain the highest possible professional and safety standards. Coordinating closely with the Director of Operations, Will confirms all aircraft policies, procedures and safety standards have been met.
Will graduated from the University California Santa Barbara with a bachelor’s degree in business economics. He holds an FAA Airline Transport Pilot license with multiple Type Ratings and is a member of the National Business Aircraft Association, the Southern California Business Aircraft Association and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. When Will isn’t working he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, playing golf, Crossfit, and Yoga.
Michael Boehme – Director of Maintenance
As the Director of Maintenance, Michael is responsible for the overall safety and condition of aircraft. In a very important role, Michael ensures that maintenance, inspections and servicing are properly completed within the prescribed regulatory time limits. Michael holds an FAA Mechanics License with both Airframe and Power Plant Ratings and is Gulfstream factory trained in all aspects of the G550 aircraft.
Michael began his aviation maintenance career in 1988 working as a Mechanics Assistant on Learjet aircraft. In 1994, he was promoted to Director of Maintenance overseeing corporate jet aircraft for an on demand and scheduled FAA Part 135 operation. In 1997, he became the General Manager of an FAA Certified Jet Engine Overhaul Repair Station. In 2002, Michael became the Director of Maintenance for an executive charter company, operating and managing Bombardier Challenger, Cessna Citation and King Air aircraft in FAA Part 135 operations. In addition to the company’s own fleet, he managed the maintenance of retail corporate jet and turboprop aircraft customers under an FAA Certified Repair Station Certificate.
Michael is a member of the National Business of Aviation Association, the National Air Transportation Association, the Northern California Business Aircraft Association and the Professional Aircraft Maintenance Association.
When Michael is not working on planes, he enjoys hiking, camping, motorsports and spending time with his family.
Dave Weaver – Flight Control Manager
Dave joined Shearwater Air in 2014 as our Flight Control Manger. Dave manages the Shearwater Air office and is the primary point of contact for charter requests.
Dave brings over 20 years of business aviation experience to the team. Prior to joining Shearwater Air, Dave worked for Executive Jet Management in Cincinnati, Ohio and NetJets in Columbus, Ohio. During his time at EJM and NetJets Dave served in many capacities including Information Technology Manager and Flight Operations Manager.
Dave is an avid mountain biker and also enjoys skiing, backpacking, and golf. He is also a private pilot. Dave’s most recent adventure was to summit Mt. Whitney, the highest peak in the lower 48 states.
